Configuring String Extraction Options

VBLM's string extraction (SX) options, set on the SX window, control the string extraction process, with the goal of getting VBLM to extract from your VB project only those strings that should be translated. See String Extraction Overview for an in-depth discussion.

The SX window can be accessed at any time by selecting String Extraction from the main options menu, or, when a project is loaded, by selecting Extract Strings from the actions menu. The Extract Now screen command, available when SX option settings have changed since the last extraction, initiates extraction with the current settings, without opening the SX window.

Note that when no project is loaded, you configure the default SX options, and when a project IS loaded, you configure project-specific SX options: see How SX Options are Stored for details.

VBLM has many SX options, and fighting clutter on the SX window has always been a problem. Version 5 had 7 tabbed, crowded pages of them. As of V6, with new options, these have been replaced with 11 cleaner pages accessed via treeview nodes.
